Workplace Hazard Identification and Assessment

Identify potential hazards in a workplace and assess their risk level.

Prevention is better than cure. BHVs play a critical prevention role by identifying hazards before they cause injuries. This involves recognizing chemical hazards, electrical risks, structural dangers, ergonomic problems, and behavioral risks. Risk assessment means evaluating both the likelihood of an incident and the severity of potential harm. A BHV walks the workplace regularly, spots problems, and recommends improvements. This proactive work prevents many emergencies from happening in the first place, which is arguably more important than emergency response skills.
