Prototyping for Validation

Create prototypes at appropriate fidelity levels to test assumptions and validate design concepts.

Prototypes are interactive versions of designs that simulate user experience, allowing teams to test ideas before full development. Prototypes vary in fidelity from low (paper sketches, clickable wireframes) to high (pixel-perfect interactive mockups). Low-fidelity prototypes are quick to create and useful for early concept testing, while high-fidelity prototypes are closer to the final product and reveal interaction details. The key is using the right fidelity for your purpose—don't waste time making a high-fidelity prototype if you're still validating whether a core concept works. Prototyping tools like Figma, Framer, and Invision let designers create interactive prototypes without coding.
